Nutri Vegetable Kitchen Gardening (NVKG)

Kitchen or home gardening is growing of vegetable crops in/ near resident houses to ensure the nutritional security and availability of year-round fresh green vegetables to the rural households of the village. The concept of Kitchen Garden is being made popular in all the Sub projects being implemented under Phase-II of HPCDP. Besides growing fresh vegetables for domestic consumption, a family can get additional income/ saving ranging ₹ 1500-2000/ per month. Different seasonal vegetables like Tomato, Brinjal, Chilli, Okra, Cucurbit, French Beans, Colocasia, Radish, Palak, Turnip, Peas, Cole Crops and Coriander, etc. are being grown/planted in small plots of 150-200 m2 area in the vicinity of farmer’s house.

The farmers will be provided with latest technical know-how by the Agriculture technocrats deployed for the purpose of the project. The farmers shall also be advised to go for staggered planting/sowing of these vegetables for their availability round the year.
